This 40-foot highly sought after double-ended Willard trawler "Patito" is a serious cruiser. The foundation of the Willard 40 Pilothouse Trawlers is their heavily constructed, double-ended, full displacement hull carrying 7,000 lbs. of ballast in a full-length keel. With Patito's full displacement characteristics, she handles like a dream. As you slice though a deep sea roller or find yourself in a following sea, you are confident in her absolute seaworthiness. Her hull design is so efficient that she burns only 1.5 to 2 gallons of diesel fuel per hour at cruise. Coupled with 600 gallons of fuel, her range exceeds 2400 NM. And for those tight dockside maneuvers the Captain will enjoy the new Vetus bow thruster. With a draft of 4' and a well-protected propeller, "Patito" is also well suited for coastal living and the Great Loop. Unfortunately, the current owner has suffered from a medical illness that prevents him from realizing his dream of cruising and now must sell "Patito."
"Patito" is ready to go! This is NOT a project vessel. Top off her tanks and point her bow to new destinations. Come aboard and see this single diesel engine blue water cruising boat. A must have for the serious cruiser.
"Patito" was built by Willard Yachts, who have a stellar reputation for top-notch design and manufacturing. She spent her entire life in the Pacific northwest. The current owner had her trucked to New Bern, NC in late 2018 and commissioned a local boatyard to address all the survey items plus some upgrades. She has only been back in the water for a few months (June 2020), where preparations were being made to move aboard and start cruising.
Hull is fabricated from fiber reinforced resin. Decks and superstructure are of FRP cored sandwich construction while the bottom is uncored.
