According to my Willard Marine historical notes, one Willard Vega 40 Motorsailer was custom built on hull #10 for Bill Tighe, one of the original founders of Willard Marine, and its owner and president before his retirement in the early 1970’s. That was the only motor sailer Willard built on a 40-foot hull. It was built on the last of the eleven 1973-77 W40-series hulls, and was laid up in January, 1977.
